History
In December 2000, Mr Reynolds was introduced to Patshull. The Hall presented not only an exciting opportunity but also an enormous, and fairly daunting, challenge.
Patshull had been unoccupied and severely neglected for over a decade since the closure of the rehabilitation centre that had occupied the Hall since the death of the 7th Earl of Dartmouth.
Faced with a wreck of a building with overgrown gardens and few records of the original house remaining, Mr Reynolds built a team of specialist tradesmen to carry out essential repairs to the property. Revisions were made to the planning permission that had been granted to carve up the house into 27 residential dwellings, and plans were laid down to safeguard Patshull for the enjoyment of future generations.
Mr Reynolds has received praise for his work from Sir Patrick Cormack, MP, local and national advisory bodies, and the planning department: "He has literally rescued it (the Hall), and transformed it from a neglected wreck into a very splendid house once more. The standard of workmanship and finish is without reproach"
Patshull Hall now has planning permission for conversion into a number of luxury residential dwellings, including The Mews development of five outbuildings, a unit formerly the kitchen to the main house, a unit formerly the coffee house and a large building to be created to the east of the Hall. In addition, public usage of the Hall has been enabled by a “change of use” permission, whereby prestigious and exclusive events and conferences can be held in the main fine rooms and grounds of Patshull.
By kind permission of Mr Reynolds, a number of private tours of the house and gardens have taken place, together with a Christmas Fundraising Evening last year in aid of Save the Children. The Albrighton Hunt Meet visited the Hall last Spring, and the Countryside Alliance and Albrighton Hunt held a private party in the Grand Saloon last Christmas.
The future of Patshull is bright. The Hall and gardens have been sympathetically restored to their former glory and all those who have visited the Hall have marvelled at the amount and standard of restoration work that has been carried out in a relatively short time.
Mr Reynolds is committed to putting Patshull Hall on the map, and to protecting this vital part of our heritage. He has the support of a dedicated team and his enthusiasm is inspiring. The hospitality extended to visitors to Patshull is boundless, and the idyllic setting is partnered with an atmosphere of warmth. Under Mr Reynolds’ ownership and care, Patshull has blossomed into a magnificent estate befitting its historical and cultural importance.
Entering the grounds, one is absorbed by the serenity and quietude of the area. Entering the house, one is inspired by the splendour of the décor and furnishings. Every moment spent at Patshull is memorable for all the right reasons – an inspirational and relaxing experience in a unique and magnificent location.
